Sr.Systems/Storage/Virtualization Engineer

DESCRIPTION
The systems engineer will install, configure and support high speed servers, appliances as well as SAN storage systems. He/she provides day-to-day onsite support for networked systems, hardware and the related infrastructure as well as maintaining network equipment and appliances, analyze problems, and monitor the environment to ensure its availability.
The systems engineer will monitor and adjust the performance of servers, appliances, systems and continually survey the data center to determine future capacity needs. Troubleshoot problems reported by users and by automated monitoring systems and make recommendations for enhancements in the implementation of future initiatives. Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to customers and internal users. Primary Job Functions

  • Installing, troubleshooting and configuring Microsoft Windows Servers
  • Installing, troubleshooting and configuring NetApp & EMC Storage
  • Installing, troubleshooting and configuring VMWare Clusters
  • Installing, troubleshooting and configuring new hardware/software
  • Analyzing network traffic for irregular traffic patters and the ability to remediate those irregularities
  • Ensure that all servers, appliances and resources are being properly monitored.
  • Day to day administrative support
  • Develop standard builds and methods to remotely deploy those builds
  • Perform capacity management analysis and reporting.
  • Adding/deleting/modifying user account information
  • Applying operating system configuration updates
  • Answering technical support
Secondary JOB FUNCTIONS
  • On-call support on a 7x24 on rotation basis
  • Conduct root cause and develop corrective actions
  • Responsibility for environment security
  • Documenting the configuration of the systems
  • Documenting area handbooks
  • Troubleshooting any reported problems
  • System performance tuning
  • Assisting the other leads as needed with workload and general support
Additional Qualifications and abilities
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (once per quarter at maximum)
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
  • College Degree & 4+ Years Experience OR 7+ Years Experience
  • MCSE/MCSA Certification or Higher
